If at your place it is anything like our place, the shower is located hundreds of kilometres away from the hot water system, or so it seems. On a cold winters morning when you are thankful for the hottest of showers you stand for minutes freezing until the shower finally runs hot.
It has always bothered me, that waste of perfectly good water. During the drought in Queensland a few years back people were encouraged to put buckets in their showers with the express purpose of catching this precious cold water before the hot arrived.
So that’s your challenge for today. Either in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry sink, the shower or wherever else you use hot water, capture the approximate 24 litres/day that would normally go down the drain. Use it on the garden, to hydrate your pets, plants, fill the kettle or wash the car.
